Immediate past President of the senate Ahmad Lawan has applauded the Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, for his exceptional leadership and significant achievements over the past five years. Lawan’s commendation came in a statement released on Sunday to mark Governor Zulum’s 55th birthday.
The statement, signed by Dr. Ezrel Tabiowo, his media adviser indicated that Governor Zulum, first assumed office in 2019, re-elected during the 2023 general elections and is currently serving his second and final term.
Senator Lawan, who represents Yobe North Senatorial District, highlighted the governor’s role in restoring peace and security to Borno State, attributing the state’s improved stability to Zulum’s focused and strategic leadership.
“Since your assumption of office as Governor of Borno State, you have consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership qualities,” Lawan stated
He noted that the governor’s initiatives, including the Disarmament, Demobilisation, Deradicalisation, Rehabilitation, Reconciliation, and Reintegration (DDRRR) programs, as well as the deployment of the Civilian Joint Task Force, have been instrumental in creating a safer environment for the people of Borno State.
Lawan also commended Zulum’s efforts in the education and healthcare sectors, citing the rehabilitation of schools, the provision of free education for girls, and the construction of ultramodern hospitals as key achievements that have enhanced the quality of life in Borno.
Moreover, the senator praised Zulum’s economic initiatives, which include innovative agricultural programs, job creation efforts, and infrastructure projects, all of which have contributed to economic growth and improved livelihoods in the state.
“As you mark this special day, I commend you for your exceptional achievements and service to our nation. Your commitment to peace, progress, and prosperity is a testament to your belief in the boundless potential of our people,” Lawan said.
