Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu has disassociated himself from recent controversial remarks made by the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Chief Okey Ezeala.

A statement, issued by his media aide, George Maduka on Sunday quoted Kalu to have emphasized that Ezeala’s opinions should not be confused with those of the party or himself.
He explained further that Ezeala does not hold any position in Kalu’s Senate office and therefore does not have the authority to speak on behalf of the Senator.
“Okey Ezeala does not work in the Senate office of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu. He does not speak for the Senator and cannot express opinions that contradict those of the distinguished Senator,” the statement read.

Kalu, a former governor of Abia State, reiterated his commitment to strengthening and unifying the APC in Abia.
He expressed concern over the divisive rhetoric attributed to Ezeala, stating that such statements do not align with his vision for a stronger party.
“The former Governor’s wish is to have a stronger and united APC. He has been doing everything possible to strengthen the party for a more prosperous outing in the state.
“He does not believe in the divisive statements from Ezeala and he does not support the name-calling and attacks on party leaders,” the statement added.

Furthermore, Kalu urged Ezeala to consult with the party’s executives, led by Chairman Dr. Kingsley Ononugbo, before making any public statements.
He stressed that any remarks not promoting peace and unity within the party do not reflect his views and should be disregarded by the public.

The statement underlines Kalu’s position as a leader committed to the success of the APC, advocating for cohesion within the party ranks as the key to winning future elections from local to national levels
