Lamido calls out Akande over disparaging comments on PDP
***Says, senility, dementia attributes of old age may have set in
Former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido and one of the founding fathers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken on the former Governor of Osun State and pioneer Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) over what he described as unkind, disparaging and discouteous comments on the PDP.
The PDP Chieftain said he can forgive Akande because his retentive memory may be failing him due to old age as elements of dementia will begin to manifest due to the realities of life as humans grow very old.
Akande had spoken in Ila Orangun, Osun State on Saturday as part of activities marking his 85th birthday anniversary where he indicated that the proposal by the opposition parties to form a coalition and dislodge the ruling party at the federal level would not offer Nigerians respite from the current hardship.
He was responding to a poser regarding the plan by the opposition parties to form a coalition with the intent to defeat the ruling APC at the national level.
It would be recalled that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 general elections, Atiku Abubakar had offered to lead a coalition against APC in the 2027 election.
But Akande, who led a coalition of the opposition parties, as the Interim National Chairman of the APC which defeated incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 general election was of the opinion that returning PDP to power would mean a continuation of suffering for Nigerians.
He said, “If PDP was rejected and the same PDP coalesced again and people say, okay we will go back to it, the people will go back to their suffering. PDP was defeated because it had no clue.
Lamido who waited for the PDP NWC to respond but to no avail took to his verified Facebook page to reply Akande in his personal capacity saying,
“Recently at a function in Abuja former Gov of Osun State and former Chairman of All Progrwaaives Congress (APC) His Excellency, Bisi Akande made some very unkind, disparaging and discouteous remark on my beloved party the PDP.
“I have made every effort to suppress the urge to respond to him hoping and believing that the NWC of the PDP or at least its National Publicity Secretary will stand up and give Gov Akande an adequate reply in equal measure.
“But having heard nothing yet from my Party, I can no longer suppress the this urge to respond to Bisi in my personal capacity.
“Let me state from the onset that i can forgive Bisi if his retentive memory is failing him because all of us at a stage in life, elements of senility or dementia will begin to manifest as the realities of life as we grow very old!
“Now let me take Bisi down the memory lane of PDP history from 1999 to early 2014 before the birth of his party the APC. If you look at all the results of the Presidential elections of 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011, one could see that at each election the results scored by the PDP were more than that of all the other political parties put together!
“From the above statistics, it is clearly obvious that whatever arrangements put by whatever alliance and by whatever nomenclature named, APC or whatever, the outcome will not change or threaten the dominance of the PDP in any future election more so that of 2014.
“Bisi must have known this as an indisputable fact because he was fairly mentally alert at that time.
“So when the APC alliance or contraption was formed in 2014, anybody with ordinary common sense knew that it was a barren woman who could not conceive unless it is fertilized by special seed! This much is a very undisputed fact!
“The major task then before the desperate barren APC after formation/contraption was how to woe and elope with any seed that could fertilize it.
“Of course this period coincided with the then ‘Civil War’ in the PDP! In this desperation, the APC took in the PDP seed which it had all along disparaged and ‘evilized’ to no end.
“Bisi and Co called PDP ‘looters, Boko Haram, a plague and everything unimaginable! As God will have it, it is this ‘evil’ that gave birth to what catapulted His Excellency Gov Bisi Akande from an obscure local little AC/ACN into national limelight.
“Has His Excellency former Gov former Chairman forgotten that my PDP political DNA is now in his blood?
“While the fore finger he is pointing at what he calls the ‘dirt’ in PDP, his other three fingers are pointing to the PDP dirt in him!
“But like I pointed out earlier, he can be forgiven and must be forgiven. Senility and dementia are an attribute of old age!”

The Obidient Movement, led by Dr. Yunusa Tanko, has issued a press statement condemning the circulation of false social media posts attributed to Senator Datti-Baba Ahmed. The statement concluded with an appeal for continued support and collaboration in combating misinformation, reinforcing the movement’s commitment to truth and integrity.

Senate Approves President Tinubu’s N1.767 Trillion Loan Request
The Senate has granted approval for a $2.09 billion (N1.767 trillion) loan requested by President Bola Tinubu to address the N9.7 trillion deficit in the N28.7 trillion 2024 budget. The decision was made during Thursday’s plenary, just 48 hours after the request was submitted to the National Assembly.
President Tinubu, in letters to both chambers of the legislature earlier this week, highlighted the importance of the loan for financing key projects and programs critical to national development.
Following the request, the Senate assigned its Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, led by Senator Aliyu Wammako (APC, Sokoto North), to review the proposal. Presenting the committee’s report, Senator Wammako described the loan as vital for implementing the Debt Management Strategy, reducing borrowing costs, extending debt maturity, and bolstering Nigeria’s external reserves.
The committee recommended raising the loan through Eurobonds or similar international financing instruments, subject to market conditions. It also suggested that any excess funds from exchange rate adjustments be directed toward capital projects in 2024 to support infrastructure and economic growth.
The Senate approved the loan unanimously, with no objections raised during deliberations. Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, who presided over the session, commended the Wammako-led committee for its swift and thorough handling of the proposal.
This loan approval is part of the government’s broader strategy to bridge fiscal gaps while focusing on developmental priorities and economic stability.

Finland Detains Pro-Biafra Agitator Simon Ekpa on Terrorism Charges
Simon Ekpa, a Finland-based pro-Biafra agitator, has been arrested and detained by the Päijät-Häme District Court in Finland on charges of inciting public crimes with terrorist intent.
The alleged offence reportedly occurred in Lahti on August 23, 2021. Finnish authorities apprehended Ekpa on Monday, November 19, marking another chapter in his history of legal confrontations.
A source confirmed Ekpa’s arrest, noting, “He was arrested three days ago. But this is not the first time. He will likely be questioned and released soon.” Ekpa was previously detained in 2023 on suspicion of fundraising fraud but was released the same evening.
The Finnish National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has also requested the detention of four additional suspects in connection with terrorism-related charges.
Ekpa has gained notoriety for his leadership of a Nigerian separatist group advocating for an independent Biafran state in southeastern Nigeria. Finnish authorities allege that he used social media platforms to coordinate actions that resulted in violence against civilians and authorities in Nigeria.
Detective Chief Inspector Otto Hiltunen of the NBI stated that the investigation focuses on a Finnish citizen of Nigerian descent, born in the 1980s, suspected of public incitement to crimes with terrorist intent.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian government has continued to engage the Finnish government through the European Union (EU) to extradite Ekpa. In August, Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters emphasized the dual approach of diplomatic engagement and sustained military operations against the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, reiterated the government’s resolve, saying, “The FG would respond appropriately to the Finnish Government through the EU. On the part of the military, troops would sustain operations against IPOB/ESN.”
Ekpa, who has represented Finland’s National Coalition Party (NCP) in local government, currently serves on Lahti’s public transport committee. Finnish authorities continue to investigate his activities, emphasizing the potential connection between his leadership role in the separatist movement and violent actions in Nigeria.
