    FG applauds Team Nigeria for taking fourth at African Beach Games

    The Federal Government of Nigeria has applauded Team Nigerian athletes for finishing fourth on the medals table at the 2nd African Beach Games that rounded off in Hammamet, Tunisia.
    The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Alhaji Ismaila Abubakar gave the commendation while addressing athletes at the end of the Competition on Sunday.
    The director of press and public relations, Mohammed Manga in a statement quoted him to have stated that Nigeria is thrilled with their performances which earned them podium appearances by recording 11 medals (6 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze) thus coming fourth out of the 23 countries that participated at the Tournament

    The Permanent Secretary indicated that the Ministry will continue to support the development of its youth through sports in line with the policy thrust of the present administration.
    This he said is with a view to providing them the opportunity to showcase their sporting talents to the world, thereby contributing meaningully to the socio-economic development of the nation

    Alhaji Ismaila also commended the President, Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) and Leader of the Team, Engr. Habu Gumel, other NOC Officials as well as Management Staff of the Ministry for the quality coordination that led to the successes recorded at the Games

    In particular, he applauded Kolawole Esther, Blessing Oborodudu and Mercy Genesis for their mastery of the game and the subsequent harvesting of all the gold medals in the 60, 70 and 50kg weight categories of the Beach Wrestling.
