Former Peoples Democratic Party National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur, was buried in Yola, Adamawa State, on Sunday, as business mogul Aliko Dangote, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and other dignitaries gathered to pay their last respects.
Tukur, who died on Saturday at the age of 91, was buried at his family residence in Fadde-Sanda, along Abuja Road, Yola.
The funeral prayer was conducted at about 10:50am by the Chief Imam of Modibbo Adama Central Mosque, Yola, Alhaji Ahmadu Bobboi.
His remains were taken to the family house, where they were buried around 11:30am in accordance with Islamic rites.
The burial attracted political leaders, businessmen, traditional rulers and other dignitaries from Adamawa and beyond.
Among those who attended were Dangote, Fintiri, Senator Iya Abbas, representing Adamawa Central, and former Adamawa governor, Jibrilla Bindow.
Traditional rulers and other prominent personalities also gathered to honour the former PDP chairman and statesman.
Tukur served as national chairman of the PDP between 2012 and 2014.
He was also a former Minister of Transport and former chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority.
He is survived by two wives and 18 children, including Awwal Tukur, the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government.
