The Emir of Daura, HRM Dr Umar Faruk Umar, CON, has conferred the traditional title of “Mairamar Kasar Hausa I” on the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa.

The title, which means “First Daughter of Hausa Land,” was bestowed on the minister on Wednesday during the closing ceremony of the Hausa Day celebrations in Daura, Katsina State.

Special Adviser to the Minister on Media and Publicity, Dr Nneka Ikem Anibeze, quoted Musawa as describing the honour as deeply personal and a reflection of her roots, heritage and pride in Hausa culture.

Musawa said the title also carried a responsibility to protect, promote and project Nigeria’s cultural heritage and ensure that its history and values are preserved for future generations.

“My rich Hausa culture has shaped who I am today, and I am immensely proud to call it my own,” she said.

She said she received the title with humility and a deep sense of responsibility, adding that it would strengthen her commitment to celebrating, preserving and promoting Nigeria’s cultural heritage.

The minister thanked Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, royal fathers, traditional institutions and the people of Katsina State for the warm reception and hospitality extended to her.

Musawa described culture as more than an inheritance, saying it was a living legacy that every generation had a responsibility to preserve and pass on.

She pledged to carry the title of Mairamar Kasar Hausa ta Farko with pride and renewed commitment to preserving, promoting and projecting the heritage of Kasar Hausa.

“I am proud of my heritage. I am proud of our culture,” she said.
