President Bola Tinubu has ordered the arrest of Prince George Buchi Nwabueze following the discovery of another alleged fake government agency, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has said.

ICPC Chairman, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, disclosed this on Friday after meeting with President Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.

Aliyu said the commission uncovered the alleged National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office during its investigation into the activities of the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

The ICPC chairman said the new office was allegedly operating from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.

He said the development formed part of the commission’s wider investigation into the activities of individuals allegedly operating fake government structures.

Aliyu said President Tinubu directed that Nwabueze be arrested and investigated in connection with the matter.

The ICPC has not yet established through a court that Nwabueze committed any offence. He remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a competent court.

The commission’s investigation is expected to determine how the alleged office was created, the individuals behind it and whether public funds or government facilities were unlawfully used.

The ICPC said its findings would guide further action in accordance with the law.
