President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, as Deputy Director-General (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election.
Buni’s appointment places him among the key political leaders expected to coordinate the APC’s campaign and mobilise support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket across Northern Nigeria.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued by Yusuf Ali, Focal Person for Digital and Strategic Communication to the Yobe State Government.
According to the statement, Buni’s selection reflects the confidence placed in his political experience, organisational ability and knowledge of grassroots mobilisation.
Ali said the governor would contribute to the coordination of APC campaign activities across the 19 Northern states.
Buni is expected to work alongside other senior political leaders, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, who have also been assigned strategic roles in the campaign council.
The governor, a former APC National Chairman, has played key roles in the party’s organisational and mobilisation activities at both state and national levels.
His appointment comes as political parties and support groups intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The North is expected to remain a major battleground in the presidential election, with the APC seeking to strengthen its support base across the region ahead of the poll.
