Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress(NDC) Peter Obi, has donated ₦10 million to the College of Nursing Sciences, Oluyoro, Ibadan, as part of his continued support for healthcare education and the training of future medical professionals.

Obi announced the donation after visiting the institution following his participation in the 50th/15th Biennial Conference of the Methodist Church.

During the visit, he met with the management and students of the college, where he reiterated his conviction that education remains one of the strongest pillars for national development, particularly in the healthcare sector.

According to him, the training of competent healthcare professionals is indispensable to improving the quality of healthcare delivery and strengthening Nigeria’s overall development.

“In keeping with my earlier commitment to continually support the institution, I donated another ₦10 million to assist the College in its important work of training future nurses and healthcare professionals,” Obi said.

He explained that the donation was part of his broader commitment to investing in education and supporting initiatives capable of building a more productive and prosperous Nigeria.

Addressing the students, Obi urged them to remain focused on their studies and embrace excellence, stressing that nurses play an indispensable role in the healthcare system.

He noted that the knowledge, compassion and professionalism of nurses are in high demand both within Nigeria and across the world.

Obi encouraged the students to uphold the highest ethical and professional standards and strive to become worthy ambassadors of Nigeria wherever they may practise.

The former Anambra State governor has consistently advocated increased investment in education and healthcare, maintaining that both sectors are critical to achieving sustainable national development and improving the well-being of citizens.
