Jigawa APC Screening Gains Rare Consensus as Aspirants Back Process

In a political climate often marked by internal disputes, aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State are striking a different tone—one of consensus and confidence—following the party’s recent screening exercise.
Among those lending his voice is Barrister Yakubu A.H Ruba (SAN), an aspirant for the Kafin Hausa/Auyo/Hadejia Federal Constituency, who described the process as credible and reflective of the party’s commitment to fairness. He commended the screening committee for what he sees as a disciplined and transparent approach to internal party affairs.
The committee, chaired by former governor Ali Sa’ad Birnin Kudu, and made up largely of senior party figures, has drawn praise from a broad spectrum of aspirants across the state. Many say the exercise stands out for its openness and adherence to due process—an outcome not always associated with party primaries.
Speaking through various channels, aspirants expressed confidence in the integrity of the exercise and, notably, pledged to abide by its outcome. For many observers, this signals a strategic effort to avoid post-screening fractures and present a united front ahead of the elections.
Political analysts suggest that beyond the commendations, the real significance lies in what the moment represents: a test of party cohesion and institutional maturity. If sustained, the current alignment could strengthen the APC’s electoral positioning in Jigawa by reducing internal dissent and fostering collective ownership of the process.
As the party moves toward the next stage, attention will likely shift from the screening itself to whether this early consensus can hold—especially when final tickets are decided and political ambitions are fully tested.
