Okun Group Hails Enikanolaiye’s Ministerial Appointment, Calls Him “Pride of the Nation”

The Acting National Secretary of the Okun Development Association (ODA), Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, has congratulated Ambassador Audu-Rafiu Olusola Enikanolaiye on his appointment as Minister of State by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the development as a “well-deserved elevation” and a source of pride for the Okun community.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Aiyenigba said the appointment reflects confidence in Enikanolaiye’s long-standing service in Nigeria’s foreign affairs architecture and his reputation as a seasoned diplomat with vast international exposure.
He described the minister-designate as “a pride of Okun Nation and the embodiment of the Omoluabi values of integrity, humility, and excellence.”
According to him, the appointment is not only significant for the Okun people but also strategic for Nigeria’s foreign policy direction at a time of shifting global dynamics.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made a thoughtful and strategic choice in nominating Ambassador Enikanolaiye,” Aiyenigba said. “His experience and character position him to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement and international standing.”
He noted that Enikanolaiye’s extensive career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including his service as Permanent Secretary and as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations, gives him an edge in managing the demands of the new role.
“These experiences place him in a strong position to support efforts aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s foreign policy framework, advancing economic diplomacy, and deepening regional and global partnerships,” he added.
Aiyenigba further praised the diplomat’s character, describing him as a man of “uncommon moral discipline and public-spirited commitment.”
“Ambassador Enikanolaiye represents ethical leadership and quiet excellence. He is known for his integrity, humility, and consistent dedication to public service,” he said.
He added that the new minister has over the years contributed to community development and social cohesion, both within the Okun Nation and beyond.
“He has remained a consistent bridge-builder and a strong advocate for unity and collective progress. His service has always reflected a deep sense of responsibility to both his people and the nation,” the statement read.
Aiyenigba expressed optimism that Enikanolaiye would justify the confidence reposed in him by the President, particularly at a time when Nigeria’s foreign relations face increasing complexity.
He said, “We are confident that he will bring honour to the Okun Nation and make meaningful contributions to Nigeria’s global engagements. This appointment will further project our people positively on the national and international stage.”
The ODA secretary concluded by wishing the minister-designate success in his new assignment, praying for wisdom, strength, and divine guidance as he assumes office.
“We wish him good health, divine protection, and success as he takes on this important national responsibility,” he said.
The statement was signed by Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, Acting National Secretary of the Okun Development Association (ODA), on April 30, 2026.
