2027: Yusuf Rallies Kano for Tinubu as Political Realignments Deepen

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has pledged to mobilise massive support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring Kano a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing a large crowd of supporters at the Government House in Kano after a rousing homecoming reception, Yusuf said the state remains firmly under the control of the ruling party and will deliver decisive votes for Tinubu.
“We are going to mobilise total support to vote APC and President Tinubu’s re-election in Kano,” the governor declared. “The President should be rest assured that we are fully in charge of the politics in Kano.”
Yusuf, who had just returned from party engagements in Abuja and Kaduna, received a grand reception from supporters across the state’s 44 local government areas—an event widely interpreted by political observers as a demonstration of APC’s grassroots strength in Kano.
The governor praised Tinubu’s administration, citing what he described as tangible progress in key sectors, including infrastructure, education, health, agriculture, and social welfare.
“Mr. President has been doing his best for this country… the economic impact is evident in education, health, agriculture, infrastructure and other sectors,” he said.
He further asserted that the APC remains the only viable political platform capable of winning elections both in Kano and across Nigeria, dismissing opposition parties as lacking the structure and cohesion to mount a serious challenge.
“The APC is the only winning party in Kano State and Nigeria. There is no other party that can take control,” Yusuf added.
The development comes amid growing political realignments in northern Nigeria, particularly in Kano, where shifting alliances and recent defections have intensified competition among major political blocs.
While Yusuf projects confidence in APC’s dominance, analysts note that emerging opposition coalitions and internal party dynamics could shape the battle for Kano—a critical electoral state—in the run-up to 2027.
For now, however, the governor’s message is clear: Kano remains central to APC’s re-election strategy, and the party is preparing for a high-stakes political contest.
