Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has ordered the immediate evacuation of Kogi State students from the University of Jos amid rising insecurity in Jos.
The decision follows recent violent attacks that have disrupted academic activities and heightened fears for student safety, forcing many to vacate hostels and campuses.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, the governor said the move was a precautionary step to protect Kogi indigenes, particularly those residing in vulnerable off-campus locations.
To coordinate the exercise, Ododo deployed the Special Adviser on Youth and Students Matters, Hon. Oladele Nihi, along with a delegation already on ground in Jos.
He assured that secure transport arrangements have been concluded to facilitate the safe return of the students in collaboration with relevant agencies.
The governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security forces for efforts to restore calm, expressing confidence that those behind the attacks will be brought to justice.
Ododo urged affected students to remain calm and cooperate with officials, reassuring parents that their safety remains paramount.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to protecting Kogi citizens wherever they reside, as authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
