Alleged ‘No Confidence’ Vote Against Karimi in Yagba West Dismissed as Fabrication

Claims that ward chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yagba West passed a vote of no confidence in Senator Sunday Steve Karimi have been debunked as false and misleading.
Findings indicate that no such meeting took place in Yagba West Local Government Area, contrary to reports suggesting that a forum of ward chairmen had endorsed a communiqué against the lawmaker.
Multiple party sources described the report as a calculated attempt to create tension within the APC and drive a wedge between the senator and the Kogi State Government led by Usman Ododo.
According to insiders, there is no record of any recent gathering of the ward chairmen where such a resolution was discussed or adopted. They further clarified that the photograph circulating alongside the report was not from any alleged meeting but from the inauguration of newly elected ward chairmen held weeks earlier at the party secretariat in Odo-Ere.
“There was no meeting, no resolution, and certainly no vote of no confidence on Senator Karimi,” a party chieftain said, dismissing the claims as a “failed plot” orchestrated by desperate political actors.
The sources alleged that the narrative was manufactured to mislead the public and tarnish the image of the senator, who they insist continues to enjoy support within the constituency.
They also linked the development to internal political maneuvering, suggesting that recent changes in electoral processes have pushed some actors to explore alternative tactics for relevance.
Despite the controversy, there are indications that grassroots party members in Yagba West remain aligned with Karimi, with calls emerging for those behind the report to retract the claims.
Efforts to reach the ward chairmen for official comments were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
