The Chairman of Owo South Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Shehu Lawalson, has congratulated the people and government of Ondo State as the state celebrates its 50th anniversary since creation from the former Western Region.
In a statement, Lawalson praised the resilience and contributions of Ondo residents, saying their efforts have driven steady growth and development across the state. “As Ondo State marks 50 years of shared prosperity, I celebrate the people whose dedication has advanced development across the Sunshine State,” he said.
Highlighting the state’s rich heritage and tourist attractions, Lawalson noted landmarks such as the Olowo of Owo’s Palace—the largest in West Africa—the Idanre Hills, and the coastal shoreline as symbols of Ondo’s cultural and natural value.
He also commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami, for their visionary leadership and commitment to the welfare of the people. Lawalson further acknowledged the sacrifices of past leaders whose efforts laid the foundation for the state’s progress.
“As our beloved Sunshine State commemorates five decades of purposeful growth and enduring legacy, we pray for continued peace, unity, and sustainable development,” he said, adding that Ondo State would continue to shine as “first among equals.”
