The Tinubu Support Group (TSG) has appointed Hon. (Engr.) Magaji Da’u Aliyu as its Deputy Director General (North), in what the organisation describes as a strategic addition to its leadership structure.
The appointment was announced in a statement signed by TSG’s Director-General, Dr. Umar Tanko Yakasai, and obtained by National Update in Dutse. Yakasai said Aliyu’s selection was based on merit, citing his “proven capacity for leadership, deep grassroots reach, and long-standing commitment to national development and democratic governance.”
He noted that Aliyu’s extensive contributions to Nigeria’s political landscape and his reputation as a seasoned public servant made him an ideal fit for the role. “Hon. Magaji Da’u Aliyu commands respect across party lines,” Yakasai said, adding that the former lawmaker is widely recognised for his strategic leadership, administrative strength, and advocacy for reforms that directly improve citizens’ welfare.
Hon. Aliyu represented Birnin Kudu/Buji Federal Constituency of Jigawa State for two consecutive terms in the House of Representatives, emerging as one of the most influential members of the 9th Assembly. His tenure in parliament was marked by a deep commitment to effective governance and national progress.
As Chairman of the House Committee on Power (2019–2023), Aliyu steered oversight in one of Nigeria’s most challenging sectors. He led crucial investigative activities, convened high-level engagements with stakeholders, and championed interventions aimed at strengthening power generation, transmission, and distribution. His efforts earned commendations from the Nigerian Governors’ Forum and the leadership of the House.
Beyond the power sector, he was active in legislative debates, national policy reviews, constituency development, and political mobilisation. He is widely acknowledged for building consensus among diverse stakeholders and maintaining strong relationships at the grassroots.
According to Yakasai, Aliyu’s political experience, strategic insight, and unwavering dedication to national development will significantly enhance the group’s operations in the northern region. “Hon. Magaji Da’u Aliyu is a man of integrity and capacity. His wealth of experience makes him an invaluable addition to our leadership,” he said.
While highlighting Aliyu’s solid academic background—including a Ph.D. in Sustainable Development and multiple professional qualifications—TSG noted that his political influence, governance experience, and strategic leadership remain his strongest assets.
TSG congratulated Hon. (Engr.) Magaji Da’u Aliyu on his appointment and expressed confidence in the vision, energy, and political strength he will bring to the organisation.
