AFAN Turmoil — Self-Styled President Kabiru Ibrahim, Exco Interrogated by Police

The Force Intelligence Department (FID) of the Nigerian Police has swooped on Arc Kabiru Ibrahim, the self-proclaimed President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), along with his executive council, over allegations of impersonation, criminal intimidation, threats to life, and conduct capable of breaching the peace.
The action follows a formal complaint by Dr. Farouk Rabiu Mudi and his team, who accused Kabiru Ibrahim of defying a Court of Appeal ruling that barred him from using the AFAN presidential title.
According to the complainants, Ibrahim has continued to parade himself at public events, on TV, and across social media, fuelling tension within the association.
Sources revealed that Ibrahim had planned an illegal election in Karu, organized unauthorized agricultural programs, and sought to participate in federal government interventions for farmers, all while ignoring court orders.
Others detained by the FID for questioning include Mohammed Magaji Getado, the alleged winner of the disputed Karu election, Femi Oke, who circulated provocative social media images, and Bassey Iwang, Sadiq Modibo, Daniel Obiora Okafor, Sani Abubakar-Kofarmata, and Alh Idrith Ya’u Maiunguwa for defying the court ruling.
The prosecution team, led by CP Omale Ola, grilled Kabiru Ibrahim over his repeated defiance of bail conditions that specifically forbade him from claiming the AFAN presidency or engaging in association activities.
Reports indicate that Mohammed Magaji Getado wasted no time posting his “victory” on social media, even sharing it with former Minister of Communications, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, sparking unrest among members and raising fears of further chaos.
The offences are under Section 53(2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015, and the case has now been forwarded for prosecution in court.
The drama marks yet another twist in the ongoing power struggle rocking AFAN, highlighting the high-stakes battle for control of one of Nigeria’s most influential farmer associations.
