NBTI Welcomes Dr. Udeh as New Innovation Minister

The National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) has applauded the appointment of Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh (SAN) as Nigeria’s new Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, describing it as a bold step toward repositioning the nation’s innovation and research ecosystem.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the Director General of NBTI, Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji, congratulated the new minister and expressed confidence that his emergence marks “a new dawn for Nigeria’s knowledge economy.”
“Dr. Udeh brings to the table a blend of legal brilliance, policy insight, and a deep passion for innovation. We look forward to working closely with him to unlock the full potential of Nigeria’s technology-driven entrepreneurship,” Dr. Raji said.
He reaffirmed NBTI’s readiness to collaborate with the Ministry in driving inclusive innovation and accelerating the commercialization of homegrown technologies. According to him, NBTI’s ongoing programs — particularly those empowering young innovators and women entrepreneurs — align perfectly with the ministry’s renewed focus on science-led economic transformation.
Dr. Udeh’s confirmation by the Senate on November 6, 2025, following the resignation of Mr. Uche Nnaji, has been widely welcomed across the innovation community.
Upon assuming office, the new minister pledged to harness the power of research, innovation, and technology to tackle Nigeria’s most pressing challenges — from unemployment and insecurity to industrial underdevelopment. His agenda aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Vision, which places innovation at the heart of national growth.
Dr. Udeh emphasized that building a thriving innovation economy will require stronger collaboration between government, academia, industry, and research institutions. His vision, he noted, is to make Nigeria a leading hub of creativity and technology in Africa — one that converts ideas into sustainable businesses and exports innovation to the world.
With his appointment, stakeholders across the innovation and startup ecosystem are optimistic about fresh energy, progressive policies, and meaningful support for entrepreneurs, inventors, and technology incubators nationwide.
