What began as a turbulent chapter in her political career has now become a story of victory and resilience. Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central) has turned her six-month “illegal suspension” into a triumphant celebration of two years of impactful representation and service.
Speaking from Kogi State on Thursday, Natasha reflected on her journey from political adversity to renewed purpose.
“Today, in celebration of my second year in office — six months of which I lost to an illegal suspension — I invited all Senators,” she said. “The Senate President read it on the floor. Some months ago, the plan was to declare my seat vacant, but God, being merciful, saw me through.”
Now firmly back in her seat, the senator has rolled out a weeklong celebration marked by the commissioning of transformative projects across Kogi Central — including water facilities, streetlights, transformers, schools, police quarters, and markets.
“We’re celebrating by commissioning projects daily from now until November 2,” she said. “We’ll also empower 2,000 people with electric vehicles, freezers, cobbler kits, sewing machines, and farm tools — life-changing items for my constituents.”
Despite her suspension, Natasha said she never relented in serving her people.
“Even though I lost six months, my people never felt it,” she said. “I worked extra hard to deliver the dividends of democracy. What they meant for setback became God’s setup for a comeback.”
On why she extended her invitation to the Senate, Natasha explained:
“It was important to follow procedure. I wanted it read publicly to show I hold no grudge against the Senate. I’m a progressive — no matter the challenges, I’ll keep performing my duties with integrity.”
From political turbulence to public triumph, Senator Natasha’s two-year milestone tells a story larger than politics — one of perseverance, grace, and unbroken commitment to service.
