Obidients Set for Anambra Elections, Warn Against Manipulation

The Obidient Movement has declared full readiness ahead of the forthcoming Anambra State elections, vowing to defend the people’s mandate and resist any attempt to subvert the electoral process.

Speaking at a press conference held on Friday at the George Moghalu Campaign Office in Udoka Estate, Awka, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, said the movement had completed the inauguration of its Polling Unit Commanders across all 5,720 polling units in the state, signalling what he described as “total grassroots coverage.”

“From Awka to Awkuzu, from Nnewi to every village and community, our grassroots structures are alive, active, and alert,” Dr. Tanko said. “We are fully mobilised to protect the people’s mandate and ensure that the voice of Anambra citizens is neither stolen nor silenced.”

He explained that the movement had deployed digital technologies and monitoring mechanisms designed to track the entire electoral process, adding that the days of “backroom result writing” were over.

“This generation of Nigerians, this generation of Obidients, will not allow the old order of electoral malpractice to thrive again,” Tanko declared.

He emphasised that the movement’s network of young people, women, professionals, and volunteers had been trained to monitor every stage of the election — from voter accreditation to vote counting and result transmission.

Rejecting rumours of internal division, the Obidient National Coordinator affirmed that the movement in Anambra was united, disciplined, and focused.

“There is no division, no faction, and no confusion. We stand together under one vision — the vision of a New Nigeria that begins from our polling units,” he said.

Dr. Tanko also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to maintain neutrality and professionalism, warning that any attempt to compromise the integrity of the election would be resisted “through lawful and democratic means.”

He further appealed to security agencies to protect voters and ensure that citizens could cast their votes without fear, intimidation, or inducement.

“To every Anambra citizen, your vote is your power. Protect it. Use it wisely. Stand firm for integrity, competence, and character,” he urged.

Concluding, the Obidient leader expressed optimism that a new dawn was possible in Anambra State:

“The world is watching. Nigeria is watching. The future is watching. And we, the Obidients, are ready. A new Anambra is possible — and together, we will make it happen.”
