Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately dismiss the nation’s Service Chiefs, warning that Nigeria is sliding deeper into chaos amid unabated killings, banditry, and insurgent attacks.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Frank lamented the latest killing of soldiers in Borno State by suspected Boko Haram insurgents, describing it as another tragic reminder of the government’s failure to protect its citizens.
“Nigerians are being killed like chickens across the North, South, East, and West. The security architecture has completely collapsed under this leadership,” he said.
Frank accused the military hierarchy of corruption and inefficiency, noting that despite huge budgetary allocations, the men and women on the frontlines remain poorly equipped and underpaid.
“Our security personnel are dying in large numbers because the funds meant to support them never reach their hands. Nigeria is bleeding, and those responsible for its safety appear overwhelmed or indifferent,” he stated.
Commends Trump, Ted Cruz for Speaking Out on Nigeria’s Security Crisis
Frank praised former U.S. President Donald Trump and Senator Ted Cruz for publicly condemning the killings of Nigerians, describing their interventions as “a moral wake-up call to world leaders.”
“We appreciate President Trump for his courage and humanity in speaking against the killings, and Senator Ted Cruz for echoing the same concern. Their voices have helped awaken a global conscience toward the plight of ordinary Nigerians,” Frank said.
He urged other international figures and rights advocates to join in holding the Nigerian government accountable for the continued bloodshed and human rights violations.
Frank, who currently serves as Ambassador of the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) to East Africa and the Middle East, called on the United States and other global powers to intensify pressure on President Tinubu to release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
“It is unacceptable for this administration to keep negotiating with terrorists while peaceful Nigerians remain unjustly detained. The world must step in and demand justice for Nnamdi Kanu,” he said.
He also commended activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore for consistently demanding Kanu’s freedom, describing him as “a fearless voice for truth and liberty.”
Frank berated the Nigerian Senate for attacking Senator Ted Cruz over his comments on insecurity, saying their reaction was “a disgrace and proof of misplaced priorities.”
“Instead of defending failed policies, the Senate should focus on protecting Nigerians. If lawmakers had done their constitutional duty of oversight and accountability, the world wouldn’t need to call out our failures,” Frank said.
He warned that silencing foreign critics would not change the grim reality of insecurity ravaging Nigerian communities daily.
Frank reaffirmed Nigeria’s long-standing ties with the United States and called for deeper cooperation in the areas of peace, democracy, and counterterrorism.
“Nigeria and the U.S. share a historic friendship that must not be undermined by incompetence or intolerance. Our relationship should remain rooted in shared values of freedom, justice, and human dignity,” he conclud
