2027: Jonathan Will Return as President Under PDP — Jerry Gana

Former Minister of Information and member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Professor Jerry Gana, has declared that former President Goodluck Jonathan will contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the PDP.

Speaking to journalists in Minna after participating in the state congress of the party, Gana said Nigerians are yearning for Jonathan’s return, stressing that the former president remains a trusted leader with a track record of people-oriented governance.

“I can confirm that Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will contest the 2027 presidential election as PDP candidate, and you will vote for him to return as president again,” Gana said.

He recalled Jonathan’s decision in 2015 to step aside in the interest of national unity, noting that subsequent administrations had given Nigerians the opportunity to compare leadership. “Nigerians have seen the difference, and the difference is very clear. They are now asking us to bring back our friend, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,” he added.

On the state of the PDP, Gana dismissed suggestions of division, insisting the party remains united and positioned to reclaim power. “When there was a near crisis, the founding fathers convened a consultative conference in Abuja and addressed all the issues at that time. PDP is truly grassroots and democratic, and that is why the people still love the party,” he said.

The former minister also criticized the current administration’s handling of the economy, particularly policies that discourage foreign investment. “This government has allowed evil gatekeepers to keep away foreign investors. That is their major problem. Nigeria is the best place to grow your money if the right policies are in place,” Gana stated.
