Love Takes Center Stage as Amaechi’s Son Weds Anita Nwabueze in Abuja

The Catholic Secretariat in Abuja came alive on Saturday as Dr. Chikamkpa Amaechi, son of former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, exchanged vows with his bride, Anita Nwabueze, in a colourful ceremony that blended faith, family, and political glamour.
Officiating the wedding mass at St. Gabriel Chaplaincy, Rev. Fr. Steve Dedua charged the couple to build their home on patience and divine guidance. He reminded them that marriage is a covenant designed by God and urged them not to become part of Nigeria’s rising divorce statistics.
“From the beginning, God made them male and female to become one. What God has joined together, let no man or woman put asunder,” he said.
The groom’s parents, Rotimi and Judith Amaechi, could not hide their joy. The former minister prayed that the couple’s union would be filled with happiness, love, and many children, while Judith stressed that the most important gift they could enjoy was lasting happiness.
The emotional ceremony was also a political showpiece, drawing some of Nigeria’s most prominent figures. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Abia State Governor Alex Otti, Dame Patience Jonathan, and Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, were among the dignitaries who joined the celebration.
Others included former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Senate President David Mark, and former Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong.
With heartfelt prayers, solemn vows, and a glittering guest list, the wedding of Chikamkpa and Anita was not just a family affair but also a high-profile celebration of love that lit up Abuja.
