Niger Assembly Backs APC Chairman Aminu Bobi with Confidence Vote

***Lawmakers hail his leadership, unity drive, and role in strengthening party dominance

The Niger State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed a vote of confidence on the Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Aminu Bobi, praising him for what it described as “outstanding and purposeful leadership.”
Bobi, who assumed office on August 4, 2023, following the resignation of former chairman Engineer Jibrin Imam, was commended for providing stability and direction to the APC in the state over the past two years.
The motion was moved by Hon. Sani Idris, member representing Tafa constituency, who said the APC chairman had shown courage, competence, and the capacity to lead the party to victory at all levels ahead of the 2027 elections.
“The Assembly is convinced that the chairman of our party has articulated a clear vision to take the party to greatness. He has demonstrated competence, courage, commitment and dedication in managing the affairs of the party,” Hon. Idris told lawmakers.
Idris noted that under Bobi’s stewardship, the APC in Niger State had expanded its strength in the legislature. From 18 members at inauguration two years ago, the party now controls all 27 seats in the Assembly.
He argued that this consolidation was a testament to the chairman’s skillful leadership and ability to foster inclusiveness, saying Bobi had “consistently reflected the core values and objectives of the APC, while aligning with the government’s New Niger Project.”
After contributions from members—each commending Bobi’s performance—the House unanimously resolved to pass a vote of confidence on the chairman.
The resolution described him as a unifying leader whose efforts have brought “sanity, solidarity, and direction” to the party in the state.
Lawmakers urged him to sustain the momentum by deepening party unity, promoting inclusiveness, and consolidating democratic gains ahead of the next election cycle.
