President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday, September 4, 2025, departed Abuja for a 10-day working vacation in Europe, splitting his time between France and the United Kingdom.
According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the trip is part of Tinubu’s 2025 schedule and is designed to provide him with a brief respite from the pressures of leading Africa’s largest democracy.
While on vacation, the President is also expected to engage in diplomatic meetings and official engagements, underscoring the “working” nature of the trip.

Onanuga noted that governance will continue seamlessly in Tinubu’s absence, with Vice President Kashim Shettima expected to step in where necessary to ensure no policy vacuum emerges.
The European trip follows closely on the heels of Tinubu’s recent foreign missions, including visits to the United Arab Emirates and Brazil, where he attended a global South-South cooperation summit.
The President is due back in Nigeria after 10 working days to resume his duties at the helm of government.
