The Global Network has lauded Governor Peter Mbah for repositioning Enugu as the true heartbeat of the South-East, citing his reforms, infrastructure drive, and investment-friendly policies that are drawing renewed attention to the state as a hub of commerce and culture.
In a statement signed by its President, Prof. Oguejiofor Ujam, and Secretary, Hon. Malachy Okey Onyechi, the group said Governor Mbah’s reforms within 26 months have repositioned Enugu as a destination for international business and tourism.
The group, made up of leading professionals in Nigeria and Diaspora, .pointed to Enugu’s successful hosting of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Meeting, EGN said the state is reclaiming its historic role as the region’s socio-economic centre. “We have seen a man in a hurry to redefine governance and restore Enugu’s glory. The Tomorrow is Here agenda has given people renewed confidence,” the group stated.
EGN praised Mbah’s bold reforms, from the rapid expansion of potable water supply to sweeping curriculum changes in schools, the Smart Schools initiative, and major investments in healthcare, skill acquisition, and science laboratories. It said these policies reflect a clear roadmap towards Mbah’s ambitious vision of a $40 billion state economy.
Tourism and infrastructure, the group added, are also receiving fresh energy, with landmark projects such as the International Conference Centre, the remodeled Presidential Hotel, Enugu Air, and new fleets of eco-friendly CNG buses positioning Enugu as a modern city with global appeal.
“These strides show a government that is not only thinking big but also acting fast,” EGN said, urging the governor to sustain the pace into the second half of his first tenure. The group also highlighted ease-of-doing-business reforms, including automated land registry and e-tax systems, as strong foundations for sustainable growth.
“Enugu is once again a place to watch — a regional capital with global ambition,” the statement concluded.
