Former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has expressed deep sympathy to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo over the death of his father, Alhaji Ahmed MomohSani Ododo, who passed away on Monday at the age of 83.
In a personally signed condolence letter to Governor Ododo, Bello described the late patriarch as “a moral compass, a wise guide, and a stabilising force” whose values helped shape the governor into a committed leader.

“He was more than just a parent to you. His quiet sacrifices, unassuming wisdom, and dedication to family and community values are reflected in the integrity, humility, and commitment with which you now serve the people of Kogi State,” Bello wrote.
The former governor added that life’s greatest legacy is not material wealth but the children one raises and the values one leaves behind. He said the late Ododo lived a fulfilled life and had given Kogi State a worthy son as governor, a legacy that commands respect and admiration.
“I mourn Baba with you and I share, deeply and personally, in your pain — for he was, in every sense, my own father as well,” Bello stated, urging Governor Ododo to continue honoring his father by leading with responsibility, dignity, and compassion.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late Ododo, grant him Aljannah Firdaus, and give the family the strength to bear the loss.
