NSF Mourns Emir of Zuru, Hails Him as Soldier. Statesman

The Northern Senators Forum (NSF) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Emir of Zuru, His Royal Highness Major General Mohammed Sani Sami (Gomo II), describing him as a soldier of honour, a visionary leader, and a revered traditional ruler.

In a condolence message, the Forum said it joins his family, the Zuru Emirate, the government and people of Kebbi State, and indeed the nation, in mourning the loss of a patriot who devoted his entire life to the service of Nigeria.
The chairman of the Forum, Sen. Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua indicated that the late Emir rose to the rank of Major General in the Nigerian Army, serving with distinction during the Civil War (1967–1970).
“As Military Governor of Bauchi State between 1983 and 1985, he championed reforms that left lasting impact — from agricultural revival through the “Back to Land” programme, to strengthening healthcare facilities, and attracting global attention when Bauchi hosted the World Handball Championship.

“”Beyond military and administrative service, His Royal Highness was celebrated for his wisdom, humility, and courage. As Emir of Zuru, he became a pillar of unity and stability, a custodian of cultural values, and a leader whose influence touched countless lives.

“The Northern Senators Forum remembers him as a bridge-builder whose discipline, patriotism, and service to humanity will remain a guiding legacy,” the statement read.
“His passing is not just a loss to Zuru Emirate and Kebbi State, but to the entire nation.”

The Forum prayed Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannah Firdaus, and console his family, the Zuru Emirate, and all who mourn him.
