Mohammed Babangida Denies Rejecting BOA Chairmanship Appointment

***Says He Has Accepted the Role, Describes Viral Rejection Letter as Fake

Mohammed Babangida, son of former military president General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has dismissed rumours that he rejected his appointment as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA).
The clarification comes in response to a letter circulating widely on social media, allegedly showing Babangida declining the presidential appointment.
In a swift reaction on Monday, his media aide, Alhaji Mahmud Abdullahi, described the letter as fake and the handiwork of “disgruntled elements.”
“The letter in circulation is entirely fabricated,” Abdullahi said. “Mohammed Babangida has accepted the appointment and is ready to serve as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture’s Board of Directors.”
Babangida also personally confirmed his acceptance of the appointment and thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the trust reposed in him.
“I am honoured by Mr. President’s confidence and I remain committed to contributing my best toward the transformation of the Bank of Agriculture in line with national objectives,” he stated.
President Tinubu had announced Babangida’s appointment last week alongside other key board and leadership positions across strategic institutions.
The fake letter, titled “Declining Appointment As Chairman, Bank of Agriculture”, falsely quoted Babangida as saying he could not accept the offer due to personal and professional considerations. It also claimed he expressed continued support for the Tinubu administration from outside government.
Babangida’s camp has urged the public to disregard the document and any similar attempts to mislead or discredit his commitment to national service.
