The Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bulangu State Assembly Constituency, Jigawa State, Mr. Abubakar Gossima, has been arrested by police operatives for allegedly making a disparaging comment on social media against a fellow party member and House of Representatives aspirant, Alhaji Aliyu Suleiman.

Sources disclosed that Mr. Gossima was picked up along the Bulangu–Kafin Hausa highway while returning from Kafin Hausa Town. The arrest was reportedly carried out by officers from the Special Investigation Unit, Abuja, who intercepted the commercial vehicle he was traveling in and singled him out.

A close associate and travel companion of the arrested youth leader, Malam Mustapha Bulangu, told journalists that the officers were led by one Mustapha Taufiq. He said the arrest followed a petition by Alhaji Aliyu Suleiman, who took offense to a comment Gossima allegedly made in Hausa on social media, stating: “We are not so politically backward that will warrant us to vote for that irresponsible boy as our member in the House of Representatives.”

Malam Mustapha added that he has since reported the matter to the relevant police authorities within the state.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Jigawa State Police Command, Lawan Adam, said he had not yet been briefed on the matter. However, police sources confirmed that Mr. Gossima has been taken to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for further investigation.
