    Stampede: Foundation redesigns palliatives distribution, decentralizes collection centers

    In its bid to prevent the ugly incidence of overcrowding leading to stampede during distribution of palliatives, the Dangote Foundation Coordinator in charge of the northern states, Alhaji Sunusi Ahmed Abudulkadir has announced the new strategy for it’s distribution.

    The coordinator disclosed this while speaking to our reporter at Birninkudu, headquarter of Birninkudu local government Area in Jigawa state during supervision of the 40,000 bags of 10kg Rice being given to vulnerable people in the state.

    Alhaji Abudulkadir pointed out that the measure is to ensure safety and hitch free distribution as the foundation has directed the decentralization of Dangote foundation palliative distribution

    The coordinator pointed out the decision is instructive and expedient to protect the health and lives of the people that will come to collect the palliatives at all the designated centres in all the northern region.

    According to him “Alhaji Aliko Dangote through Aliko Dangote Foundation has distributed over one million bags of Rice across the country. And presently the distribution is happening in most of the northern and Lagos”.

    He added that it is one of the many gestures by chairman of Dangote group of companies to ease the present suffering and high cost of food items in this holy month of Ramadan”.

    Alhaji Abudulkadir maintained that “people should exercise patience and be orderly while collecting, as a very good plan and proper arregnment had been made to ensure all deserving and targeted people benefited”.

    The chairman Jigawa state Dangote palliative distribution committee, Dr Abubakar Sani Birninkudu commended the chairman of Dangote group of companies, Alhaji Aliko Dangote for the support.

    Dr Birninkudu said the food assistance came at a very good time when the are hard pressed searching for what to break their fasting.

    In his words, “We really appreciate Dangote foundation for additional 10,000 bags of Rice. earlier the foundation allocated 30,000 bags, but later announced additional 10,000 bags for the state”.

    “We distributed the rice by allocating equal number to each of the 287 political wards and down to poling units to avoid over crowding with special consideration given to orphanage homes, correctional centers and widows, orphans and people living with disability.
