In a bold push to promote youth empowerment and social cohesion through sports, Senator Babangida Hussain, representing Jigawa Northwest Senatorial District, has successfully renovated and upgraded two township stadiums in the zone to meet national league competition standards.

Speaking at the commissioning of the newly upgraded Gumel Township Stadium, which was officially unveiled by Jigawa State Governor Malam Umar Namadi, Senator Hussain reaffirmed his commitment to initiatives that uplift the youth, unite communities, and drive long-term development across the state.
“I remain fully committed to advancing every initiative that empowers our youth, strengthens our communities, and supports the long-term development of Jigawa State,” the senator declared in his welcome address.
He revealed that the sports infrastructure upgrades are part of a broader youth development agenda he has been pursuing since assuming office.
“In my ongoing efforts to promote youth engagement, social cohesion, and sports development, I have initiated and supported the upgrade of major sporting facilities across Jigawa Northwest,” he explained.
According to the lawmaker, similar work had already been completed in Kazaure, with Gumel delivered, and Ringim next in line.
“These projects go beyond football. They are investments in peace, health, talent, and opportunity,” Senator Hussain added, stressing that his mission is to ensure that young people across the district have access to safe, functional, and inspiring environments.
Commissioning the facility, Governor Umar Namadi applauded the senator’s contributions to grassroots development through sports, describing them as critical complements to the state government’s broader youth-focused agenda.
“This initiative not only promotes sports and recreation but also aligns with our administration’s goal of engaging young people positively,” the governor noted.
He urged the youth and residents of Gumel town to make the best use of the opportunity, and to ensure the proper maintenance and utilization of the new stadium.
