In a swift leadership transition, Ali Bukar Dalori, the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has taken over as Acting National Chairman following the sudden resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Ganduje tendered his resignation on Friday, ending months of speculation about his continued leadership of the ruling party. While official details remain scarce, party insiders attribute his exit to undisclosed health concerns and lingering internal power shifts linked to zoning controversies.
Confirming the development, APC chieftain Ayekooto Akindele announced via his verified Facebook page:
“Acting National Chairman of the APC, Ali Bukar Dalori.”
Dalori, a seasoned party strategist and former Borno APC Chairman, steps into the role at a time of heightened political calculations ahead of the party’s national convention slated for December 2025, where a substantive chairman is expected to be elected.
Adding weight to the transition, Bashir Ahmad, former media aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, disclosed that the APC’s constitution provides for a national vice chairman to assume leadership in an acting capacity until a formal replacement is ratified.
Though no official statement has yet been released by the APC National Working Committee (NWC), the emergence of Dalori is widely seen as a move to ensure continuity, regional balance, and party stability as the 2027 election cycle inches closer.
Political observers say the leadership reshuffle could also reopen power realignment talks, including whispers of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso being courted to join the APC and potentially take on a national leadership role.
As the party navigates this transition, all eyes are now on Dalori to steady the ship and prepare the APC for its next chapter.
