In a gesture aimed at supporting the families of officers who died in active service, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Miller Dantawaye, has presented cheques totaling N13.7 million to the families of seven deceased Police officers.

The disbursement, according to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Ovye Aya, aligns with the welfare initiatives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.

Aya explained that the funds were drawn from the Group Life Assurance Scheme and the IGP Family Welfare Scheme, both designed to provide financial relief to bereaved families and reinforce the morale of serving personnel.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, CP Dantawaye emphasized that officer welfare and family support remain top priorities under the current police administration. He described the gesture as a symbolic expression of honour for the ultimate sacrifices made by the fallen officers in the line of duty.

“The Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of IGP Egbetokun, is committed to ensuring that the families of our gallant officers who died in the line of duty are not forgotten. This support underscores our dedication to their legacy,” CP Dantawaye stated.

He urged the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely and reiterated the Command’s ongoing commitment to the values of sacrifice, service, and welfare.

In a heartfelt response, a representative of one of the bereaved families thanked the IGP and the Kogi State Police Command for remembering their fallen loved ones. They pledged to make judicious use of the financial support for the benefit of their families.
