A prominent philanthropist and community leader in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Alhaji Adamu Aliyu Kantoga, has empowered over 100 youths across three political wards in the western part of the LGA.
In addition to his economic empowerment efforts, Alhaji Adamu, a respected businessman, also supported local sports by donating footballs and jerseys to several clubs and sponsoring football competitions to promote unity among youths.
In recognition of his outstanding service, the Village Head of Kantoga, Malam Isah Aliyu, upgraded his traditional title from Chiroman Kantoga to Garkuwan Kantoga—a title that signifies “Shield of Kantoga.”
According to the village head, “Every family in these wards has benefited in one way or another from Alhaji Adamu’s generosity. He has consistently demonstrated selfless service, transforming the socio-economic conditions of our communities.”
The philanthropist has provided start-up capital and vocational training to youths, especially in the fertile, arable areas where dry and wet season farming is practiced.
His support for irrigation farming has led to increased yields in wheat and rice production.
At the closing ceremony of a football tournament held in his honor, Alhaji Adamu reiterated his commitment to youth development and social unity.
“This competition is about fostering unity and love, especially among the youth, who are the future of our community,” he said.
The Chairman of Birnin Kudu LGA, Dr. Muhammad Uba, described Alhaji Adamu as a man of integrity and called for more community-driven initiatives like the football competition, suggesting it be expanded to all eleven wards in the area.
