Peter Obi Demands Urgent Action as Zulum Reveals Terrorists in Government

Former presidential candidate and Labour Party leader, Mr. Peter Obi, has issued a scathing response to recent comments by Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, who disclosed that informants and collaborators of Boko Haram exist among Nigerian politicians and even within the armed forces.

Describing the revelation as “deeply troubling,” Obi said it confirmed the fears of many Nigerians—that the country is not only under siege from external terrorist threats, but also from betrayal at the highest levels of government.

“If true, this is not just a security failure—it is a moral crisis,” Obi said in a statement on Thursday. “Anyone aiding or abetting terrorists—regardless of title, rank, or office—is a traitor to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and must be exposed and prosecuted.”

He warned that no progress can be made in the war against terrorism if individuals entrusted with national leadership are secretly undermining the country’s security efforts.

“The silence and inaction that often follow such grave disclosures only embolden those sabotaging our nation from within,” Obi added. “The Federal Government must respond with urgency, clarity, and firm action.”

Commending Governor Zulum for his candour, Obi called on Nigerians to support efforts to expose collaborators of terror groups, insisting that such revelations must not die in the news cycle.

“This is a call to courage and conscience. Nigeria cannot remain hostage to traitors disguised as leaders,” he said.

Reaffirming his commitment to justice and national transformation, Obi concluded with his signature message: “A new Nigeria is POssible.”
