President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially inaugurated the board of the reconstituted Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), appointing Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari as the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) and Ahmadu Musa Kida as Non-Executive Chairman.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Wednesday at the President’s office in the State House, Abuja, just before he proceeded to the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Summit at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa.
The newly constituted 11-member board reflects a deliberate balance of industry expertise and regional representation, drawing members from across the six geopolitical zones.
Among the board members are, Adedapo Segun and Bello Rabiu representing the North West, Yusuf Usman for the North East, Babs Omotowa, former Managing Director of Nigeria LNG, representing the North Central, Austin Avuru as Non-Executive Director for the South-South, David Ige for the South-West and Henry Obih representing the South-East
Also appointed are Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, as the ministry’s representative; and Aminu Said Ahmed, representing the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.
The inauguration was witnessed by top government functionaries, including the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; and Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri.
According to the Presidency, all appointments took effect from April 2, 2025, marking a new chapter in the ongoing reform of Nigeria’s petroleum sector under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
