The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun has spotlighted the critical role of private sector leadership in shaping Nigeria’s economic trajectory.
He gave the indication at the 20th anniversary celebration of Chapel Hill Denham, one of Nigeria’s foremost investment banking firms.
Director of Information and Public Relations, Mohammed Manga in a statement indicated that the event, which brought together top financial stakeholders in Lagos, served as a platform to showcase the transformational impact of indigenous institutions driving innovation, capital formation, and human capacity development over time.

Mr. Edun described Chapel Hill Denham as a “national asset,” drawing parallels with global giants like Goldman Sachs for its trailblazing influence, particularly in cultivating financial talent now serving across pivotal public and private institutions.

“This firm has become a pipeline of leadership and innovation for Nigeria’s economy — from the capital markets to government finance. That’s the kind of ecosystem we need to build a stronger, more resilient nation,” the Minister said.
He commended the firm’s instrumental role in landmark initiatives, including the conception and execution of Nigeria’s first domestic dollar bond issuance, crediting the firm’s CEO, Mr. Bolaji Balogun, for his vision and expertise.

The Minister also used the occasion to reaffirm the government’s commitment to private sector-led growth, highlighting recent reforms that have improved foreign exchange market liquidity, liberalized fuel pricing, and opened new avenues for broad-based investment.

“We are building an economy where innovation thrives and enterprise is rewarded. Our reforms are designed to empower institutions like Chapel Hill Denham to continue creating value and driving inclusive growth,” he stated.

As the firm enters its third decade, Mr. Edun offered a note of congratulations and encouragement:

“This 20-year milestone is more than a corporate achievement — it is a beacon of what is possible when local institutions commit to excellence. Congratulations to Chapel Hill Denham. May your example inspire the next generation of nation-builders.”
