The Minister of Defence, H.E. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has pledged Nigeria’s renewed support for United Nations humanitarian initiatives operating across the country.
Speaking during a meeting with the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, Mr. Mohamed Malick Fall, in Abuja, Badaru emphasized the need to strengthen collaboration between Nigeria and the UN in key areas such as health, education, water and sanitation, and livelihood development.
Personal Assistant on Media & Publicity, Mati Ali in a statement quoted the minister to have indicated that the beed for meeting as “long overdue,”.
The Minister called for the revival of productive partnerships and highlighted how healthy inter-state competition and benchmarking previously advanced development outcomes during his time as a state governor.
In response, Mr. Fall commended the Minister’s proactive approach and assured the UN’s continued readiness to collaborate with both federal and state actors to enhance humanitarian and development interventions across Nigeria.
The meeting also addressed plans to test new service delivery models, improve coordination among technical teams, and engage national security institutions to ensure smooth implementation of humanitarian programs.
