Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has indicated that his administration is on a mission to restore quality education by recruiting more teachers and transforming public school infrastructure across the state.

During a recent inspection of renovated schools in Edo Central, the Governor reaffirmed his earlier declaration of a state of emergency in the education sector and vowed to close the gap between public and private schools.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fred Itua in a statement quoted him to have said,
“Education is our top priority. We’re renovating schools, improving security, and hiring more teachers. Every Edo child deserves access to quality learning in a safe, modern environment,” he said.

The Governor also revealed that many abandoned schools now boast new structures, secure fences, and conducive learning environments—part of his wider plan to make public schools more attractive and globally competitive.

“Our goal is simple: to make public schools the preferred choice through quality teaching, sound infrastructure, and affordable access for all,” Okpebholo stated.
