***Calls for Peace, Compassionate Leadership
In the wake of devastating attacks that tore through Bokkos Local Government Area in Plateau State, Peter Obi, former Labour Party presidential candidate, visited the affected communities with a message anchored on compassion, solidarity, and meaningful action.
Traveling from Abuja to Jos and onward to the heart of Bokkos, Obi walked through the grief-stricken settlements—meeting displaced families, comforting children, and witnessing firsthand the deep scars left by violence. His presence wasn’t just symbolic; it was a personal act of empathy and commitment.
During the visit, Obi lamented the senseless loss of lives, writing on his official X handle:
“What has happened here is heartbreaking and utterly unacceptable. No Nigerian should be killed or forced to flee their home in a time of peace. Every life is sacred.”
In a tangible show of support, he donated ₦7.5 million towards the care and education of displaced children, describing the gesture as a seed of hope meant to aid their journey toward healing and stability.
Obi also applauded members of the Obidient Movement for constructing a borehole to serve the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp and surrounding areas with clean water.
He called their effort “a powerful example of the unity and kindness Nigerians must embrace.”
Standing alongside Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, Obi extended heartfelt condolences and urged for a leadership culture rooted in empathy and swift, people-centered action.
“At a time like this, Nigeria needs leaders who listen, who care, and who respond. Our decisions must now be led by compassion,” he stated.
As he concluded his visit, Peter Obi left more than financial aid—he left behind a strong call for peace, shared responsibility, and national healing.
“A new Nigeria is POssible,” he affirmed. “May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may the people of Bokkos find strength, unity, and hope in the days ahead.”
