In a candid and heartfelt interview on The Breakfast Club, Nigerian Afrobeats icon Davido has announced that he is leaving his past behind, pledging to focus on building a peaceful and faithful marriage. The multi-award-winning artist, known for his hit songs and high-profile relationships, shared his decision to put an end to the “wahala” that comes with infidelity.

“I said I’m not cheating again. I no dey cheat again. You no hear wetin I talk?” Davido declared in his signature mix of English and Pidgin. “Cheating comes with lots of problems. I have five kids with four women. I don’t want any wahala.”

This bold declaration comes after years of public controversies surrounding his personal life. Despite marrying his longtime partner, Chioma Rowland, in 2023, rumors of infidelity continued to follow Davido. Now, he is determined to turn the page, showing a new level of maturity and introspection about the toll his past behavior has taken on his relationships.

Referencing his family’s dynamic, including the multi-wife household of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Davido pointed out that wealth doesn’t guarantee peace or happiness at home.
“My uncle that’s a governor has two wives. Another uncle said that all his wives lived with him, and they played with each other. But even with all the money, there’s still wahala,” he reflected, emphasizing that the lifestyle of excess is no longer his path.

Despite facing personal tragedies, including the heartbreaking loss of his son, Ifeanyi, in 2022, Davido has remained close to Chioma, who he calls his “rock.” Their relationship has withstood immense pressure, both from the public and personal losses, signaling a bond that has only grown stronger over time.

This interview represents a turning point for the artist. Known for his larger-than-life persona and unflinching confidence, Davido’s shift towards a more reflective and grounded outlook could signal a new chapter — one where peace and personal growth take precedence over scandal and controversy. His decision to prioritize his family and leave behind a chaotic past is a testament to his evolution, both as an artist and as a man.
