Following the devastating windstorm that hit parts of Kogi East, Senator Isah Jibrin (popularly known as Echocho) has taken immediate steps to cushion the effects of the disaster on affected residents. Communities like Itobe, Oladebu, Itagidi, Ajegwu, and others were left reeling after the natural disaster claimed two lives and rendered many homeless.
Demonstrating leadership beyond legislation, Senator Echocho personally visited the affected areas to identify with the victims and distribute food items and cash running into millions of naira. His intervention brought a glimmer of hope to the grieving and displaced residents.
Speaking during the visit, the Senator emphasized that his actions were driven by compassion and a sense of duty to his constituents. “This is a personal commitment to ensure no one is left behind in this difficult moment,” he stated.
Beyond his personal donation, Senator Echocho revealed that official letters have been sent to relevant government agencies, urging a prompt and large-scale response. He also pledged to bring the matter to the Senate floor as a motion once the National Assembly reconvenes from its Easter and Sallah break.
“This issue will not be ignored,” he assured. “I intend to sponsor a motion to attract federal attention so that the victims can receive not just temporary relief but lasting support.”
The Senator’s swift response has been hailed by many as timely and empathetic, reflecting his commitment to the well-being of the people of Kogi
