The Kogi State government has sharply condemned Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for allegedly attempting to incite unrest and mislead the public with false claims.
In a post that sparked controversy, Natasha accused Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo, former Governor Yahaya Bello, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio of being responsible if anything were to happen to her during her Sallah visit.
The state government responded swiftly, labeling her statement as a deliberate attempt to manipulate public sentiment and stir tensions in the region.
Kogi’s Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, described Natasha’s post as “reckless and malicious,” aimed at fabricating a crisis where none existed. He further accused the senator of violating the state’s ban on political gatherings, which was put in place to prevent disorder and ensure peace.
The government also made it clear that Natasha’s actions, which were aimed at provoking violence in Kogi Central Senatorial District, would not be tolerated. While Natasha later deleted the post, the government claims to have preserved a screenshot of the original message, confirming its authenticity.
Governor Ododo’s administration stressed that Natasha’s actions reflected a pattern of lawlessness, stating that her constant disregard for security directives had caused unnecessary friction in the state. Rather than respecting the law, the government argued, Natasha had chosen to stir the pot, presenting herself as a victim while undermining the stability of Kogi.
In a strongly worded statement, the government warned that Natasha would be held accountable for any violence arising from her actions, urging the people of Kogi State to reject her divisive rhetoric. The government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order and vowed to take decisive steps against anyone who sought to disrupt the peace.
Finally, the government called on security agencies to closely monitor Natasha’s behavior, warning that her inflammatory actions posed a serious threat to the peace and security of Kogi State.
