The Northern Senators Forum has expressed deep grief over the recent tragic killings of innocent travelers in Uromi, Edo State, on Thursday, 27th March 2025.
The attack, reportedly driven by suspicion and ethnic profiling, represents a grave injustice and a threat to our national unity.
Chairman of the Forum Sen. Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, in a statement on Friday, said,
“We firmly denounce this act of mob violence, which undermines the rule of law and the values of peace and coexistence that define our nation. Such incidents not only violate fundamental human rights but also set a dangerous precedent that must not be allowed to continue.
“We call on the Edo State Government and law enforcement agencies to ensure that all perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice and that similar acts are prevented in the future.”
The forum commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his decisive action in ordering a full investigation into the incident.
“It is imperative that security agencies conduct a transparent and thorough inquiry, ensuring that justice is served and the rule of law is upheld. The right to free movement and peaceful residence, as enshrined in Section 41 of the Nigerian Constitution, must be protected at all times.
“Every Nigerian, regardless of ethnicity or background, has the right to live, travel, and work freely within our borders. We must collectively reject any actions that threaten these freedoms.

The Forum urged community leaders, security agencies, and all stakeholders to promote dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
“Our nation is strongest when united, and we must work together to build a society founded on mutual respect, justice, and harmony.”
