Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has distanced himself from the position taken by South-South Governors opposing the possible declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers State by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a clear break from the collective stance of his regional counterparts, Governor Okpebholo stated that he was neither consulted nor informed before the position was made public.
Chief Press Secretary to the Edo State Governor, Fred Itua in a statement on Satrurday said, while respecting the right of other South-South Governors to express their views, he firmly dissociates himself from any opposition to President Tinubu’s actions, emphasizing that the President, as Commander-in-Chief, understands the complexities of the crisis and is best positioned to make decisions that will ensure peace and stability.
Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed his support for President Tinubu’s leadership and any decisive measures taken to restore order in Rivers State and the South-South geopolitical zone.
