Former Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, has challenged ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai* to publicly present evidence supporting his allegations that Governor Uba Sani diverted local government funds for personal gain. A
Shehu Sani, a well-known Civil Rights Activist, dismissed El-Rufai’s claims in an interview over the weekend, reiterating on Monday in a discussion with National Update that no such diversion took place.
He described the allegations as a “fabricated attempt to smear the Governor’s name,” particularly in light of the ongoing *N420 billion corruption probe against El-Rufai’s administration.
“If El-Rufai has any proof that Governor Uba Sani purchased properties in South Africa, Seychelles, or London using diverted funds, let him make it public. Otherwise, these allegations should not be taken seriously,” Sani stated.
He further accused El-Rufai of mismanaging Kaduna State’s resources during his eight-year tenure as governor and urged him to focus on answering for the *N420 billion corruption probe rather than spreading “falsehoods in the public domain.”
“The people of Kaduna will not forget in a hurry how El-Rufai plundered the state. Now that an investigation has indicted him, he should face it with courage instead of making baseless accusations,” Sani added.
He maintained that the missing N420 billion was enough to significantly develop Kaduna State and insisted that El-Rufai must be held accountable for the funds.
Sani’s remarks come in response to El-Rufai’s recent accusations that Governor Uba Sani allegedly diverted local government funds to acquire properties abroad.
The unfolding political clash between the two former allies has sparked fresh debates over governance and accountability in Kaduna State.
