In a powerful statement issued under the banner of ‘Concerned Constituents of Kogi Central’, and signed by the Coordinator/convener, Hon Abdulrahaman Badamaiuy, the people expressed outrage over what they described as an unconstitutional and undemocratic attempt to silence their duly elected representative.
They vowed to resist any attempt to deprive their district of its right to representation, warning of serious consequences if justice is not served.
The constituents reaffirmed their unshakable support for Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, stating that she remains the legitimate voice of Kogi Central in the Senate, as freely and overwhelmingly elected by the people in 2023.
“Our mandate was given to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan by the will of the people, and no individual or group has the right to take it away through illegitimate means,”* the statement read.
They strongly condemned the Senate’s decision, calling it an assault on democracy and a dangerous precedent that must be reversed immediately.
The demanded that the Senate must immediately lift the suspension of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan to restore the constitutional rights of Kogi Central constituents as they rejected any attempt to impose a replacement or to undermine their senator’s authority.
They vowed to unite and strongly resist any plot to orchestrate an illegal recall of Akpoti-Uduaghan
