The controversy surrounding Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan’s suspension from the Senate and her allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio may not fade away so soon from public discourse.

On Tuesday, the suspended Kogi Senator took her case to the global stage, speaking at the Women in Parliament session during the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Meeting at the United Nations in New York.

During her address, she appealed to international democratic institutions for intervention, condemning her suspension as “illegal” and an act of injustice.

Following her speech, Senator Natasha voiced concerns for her safety, alleging that influential figures in Nigeria might attempt to detain her in New York as retaliation for speaking out.

Her suspension stemmed from a heated confrontation in February over a Senate seat arrangement, which escalated into a dispute with the Senate President. The incident not only led to her removal from the Red Chamber but also triggered allegations of sexual harassment, sparking broader concerns about conduct and accountability within the Senate.
