Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has condemned the recent violent attacks that left 22 people dead in Ovia South West Local Government and two farmers killed in Okpekpe, Etsako East Local Government. Describing the incidents as “senseless acts of violence,” Okpebholo assured residents that his administration would take decisive action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the governor reaffirmed his government’s zero tolerance for lawlessness and bloodshed.

Reacting swiftly, Okpebholo ordered the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to the affected communities. He also directed state security agencies to intensify surveillance and intelligence gathering to prevent further attacks.
“We will work tirelessly to ensure that those responsible for these heinous acts are brought to justice. We will do everything in our power to prevent such incidents from happening again,” he stated.
The governor further assured that his administration would collaborate with security agencies, traditional rulers, and community leaders to restore peace and ensure the safety of all residents.
    Support for Affected Communities
Beyond security measures, Okpebholo has directed the immediate provision of relief materials and assistance to displaced families. He urged residents to remain calm but vigilant, emphasizing that the government is fully committed to protecting lives and livelihoods.
“We understand the pain and fear these attacks have caused. We will not abandon our people. Our security strategy will not just be reactive but proactive to ensure that such incidents do not repeat themselves,” Okpebholo added.

While pledging justice, the governor also called on Edo residents to support security agencies by providing vital information that could aid in the arrest of the attackers.
“We must stand together against violence. I urge everyone to remain calm and cooperate with security operatives as we work to restore peace in these communities,” he said.
With heightened security measures now in place, Governor Okpebholo has assured that his administration remains resolute in safeguarding Edo State against threats to its people and economy.
